REVIEW: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Action Figures

Shell out for these.

Whether you remember them as the Hero Turtles or the Ninja Turtles, there's no doubt that Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donetello are more than just dead painters to the last few generations of children. Its been exactly 20 years since we got to grips with the pizza hungry fab four in action figure mode, so we leapt at the chance to shout COWABUNGA all over again.

REVIEW: Everyday essential gadgets #1

Stand up, get charged, make a statement and ...drink.

Here at The Test Pit we get sent some incredible pieces of tech to play with; gadgets truly worthy of the full 600+ words we write about them. However, once in a while we get sent things that, although extremely cool in their own way, don't really warrant a full review. And so to celebrate those plucky underdogs, here's a few of our favourites that will help maintain your gadget lust in more subtle ways.

REVIEW: SuperTooth Melody Headphones

Melody makers

Wires are the bane of modern humans. We have all this wonderful stuff; amazing gadgets, incredible technology, entertaining toys… but damn the wires are tying us down. You only need to peer behind the average living room TV cabinet to see what we’ve really become – a species knotted in our own technological success. Plus, it’s well annoying trying to untangle headphone cables on the bus. So thank the Gods of Gadgets for the SuperTooth Melody Bluetooth Headphones.

REVIEW: Sphero

Belle of a ball

Ah, the humble ball. Once upon a time the only ball we humans had to gaze upon was the creamy disk of the moon. These days however they are everywhere - in the hands of every child, as component parts in our vehicles and machines and at the feet of every over paid, under-educated footballer.

But... a ball is just that: a lifeless sphere, an empty vessel. They are dull and interesting only to toddlers and mathematicians. UNTIL NOW!

REVIEW: Air Storm Z-Curve Bow

Little bow peep

Think about it – its always the cool kids that use bows. Obviously there was Robin Hood (who used his archery set to encourage a fairer method of medieval wealth distribution), but there was also Rambo. Rambo was so badass, that in a situation when his enemies were using machine guns, he was totally confident of entering the fray armed only with the humble bow. That is because bows are awesome, and what is even more awesome is that now we have a bow that won't kill anyone. Phew.

REVIEW: Y-Cam Home Monitor

Y-Cam? Because we want to.

Once upon a time the height of home security was the humble lock. Unfortunately criminals soon realised that locks weren't all that hard to get by, so burglar alarms became all the rage. But what is a burglar alarm anyway? A noisy siren that either goes off when you sneeze loudly at night, goes off for no reason while you're holidaying on Madeira and therefore keeps the neighbours awake for a week... or indeed doesn't go off at all, allowing Mr Tealeaf and co to clear out your valuables? So it's a good job you're reading this review.

REVIEW: Star Wars Lego Lighting

Luke, I am your desk lamp.

Star Wars? Yes please. Lego? Yes please. Lights? Mmm, okay. We know, an odd combination, but a combination we enjoyed in the Star Wars Lego range of lights. A couple of different models jumped out of hyperspace and headed right for us, using the Force (or rather LED lights) to light the way.

Just so we're clear, we effing love Star Wars. Despite the franchise's failings in recent years, with the likes of Jar Jar Bunks blighting our childhood memories, we've always enjoyed delving into the world set a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.

REVIEW: House of Marley On-Ear Headphones

Just so you know, here at The Test Pit we are jammin', and we really hope that you like jammin' too. That's because our heads, ears and brains have recently been pleasured by the 'one love' that is the Positive Vibration On-Ear Headphones from the House of Marley. Even though he's been dead for a quite a few years, it seems that Bob Marley is really quite talented at making headphones. We slipped a pair over our dreads and... erm... did something else Marley related.

REVIEW: Roberts Classic DAB Radio

Yes, you may love your iPod or your streamed music through your fancy-pants speakers, but are you aware there is music all around us for free? Our grandparents called it ‘The Wireless’, a name our gadget obsessed generation seems to have appropriated for our own uses. But what part does radio play in our lives these days, when music is so easily available on-line? Hopefully, it will continue to play a big part, thanks in no small part to the Roberts Classic DAB Radio.

REVIEW: Toshiba STOR.E Canvio External Hard Drive

We can't speak for our dear readers, but each of us here at The Test Pit have been steadily accruing digital 'stuff' since the late 90s. All that 'stuff' – be it photos, music, movies, documents – needs a safe place to live. But those places are getting a bit crammed these days. Having a handy and secure thing sitting on your desk that welcomes all those blurry pictures of Aunt Brenda and those half finished novels that you are definitely going to complete one day, is a total necessity. That is why we took a look at the latest offering from tech giants Toshiba – the STOR.E Canvio External Hard Drive, with its whopping 3TB of storage.

REVIEW: Proporta Accessories

Complimenting nicely with our review of Breffo accessories, we take a look at a few pretty offerings from Proporta that help make your digital life that little bit more interesting. We were lucky enough be sent a plethora of samplings from the Proporta crew, but what really caught our gadget-loving eyes was the Pocket Power portable charger.
