Your stuff, protected
To celebrate World Back-Up Day on 31st March (which, obviously, you all already knew about) we've teamed up with our great mates at iStorage once more to offer an awesome prize. If you deal in sensitive digital media that you don't want to be looked at and pinched, or if you just have a tonne of private and important photos, videos, and documents on several different flash drives you would like to be better protected, you need to enter our latest competition. Up for grabs is a 2TB iStorage diskAshur Pro 2 encrypted portable hard drive.
We'll be honest, this ain't your typical hard drive. As we've seen in the past when reviewing other protected storage devices for iStorage, their kit is solid, reliable, and offers both digital and physical security unlike any other product out there. The diskAshur Pro 2 represents the company's best and most secure portable option, making it a perfect goody to get around World Back-Up Day.
Also, this thing isn't cheap, with the 2TB version offered here costing £329, while the larger 5TB drive will set you back £489. That is expensive for a portable storage solution, but there is so much at play in this thing to keep your data away from prying eyes.
For a start, you set a PIN to unlock the drive. Every time you plug the diskAshur Pro 2 into your computer (it's compatible with all operating systems) you have to enter the correct PIN to get access to the info. Enter that incorrectly a few times (as a cheeky thief might) and the drive will eventually lock itself, erasing the data. It uses EDGE Technology encryption to ensure that no matter what attempts are made to gain access to it, it will keep your stuff safe.
As well as offering one for this competition, we've also been using one of the Pro 2s for the past week; carting files around while we travel about. Granted, our data (product images, review back-ups, website stuff) isn't as important or as crucial as government intelligence records, customer data, or nude photos, but still it was nice to know that everything was safe and secure... even if we left the drive behind on a train. It is easy to use, includes a zip carry case (we love cases!), and offers enormous peace of mind.
