REVIEW: Duux Whisper Flex 2 Smart Fan

If you're after stealthy cooling, this fan is a real ninja. Duux claims it runs at just 13 dB on its lowest setting — quieter than a whisper — and yes, you can genuinely forget it's turned on . Even on higher speeds it stays a smooth, hiss‑free breeze without buzzy motor noise, making it ideal for light sleepers or video calls.

Beast mode: airflow & customisation

Under its sleek exterior is plenty of grunt. With 30 distinct speed levels, it can go from a gentle waft to a powerful gust — reviewers noted measurable airflow up to ~3.5 m/s at top speed, more than enough to cool a large room or your workspace on a hot afternoon. Dual‑axis oscillation adds finesse: horizontal swings (30°, 60°, 90°) and vertical angles (45° or 90°) circulate air more efficiently than one‑plane rivals.

Modes & lifestyle extras

This isn’t just a fan — it’s a mood machine. Natural Breeze Mode mimics real outdoor wind patterns, while Night Mode dims the LED display after a few seconds, so you're not blinded in the dark. A built‑in timer up to 12 hours, child‑safe lock, and an optional battery pack (sold separately) let you customize usage: set schedules, stick it on a dock, and go cordless for up to ~11 hours of portable breeze.

Smarts & control quirks

You can control it via remote (infrared), a capacitive touch display at the base, or the Duux app — which lets you schedule the fan, pick modes, toggles, and voice‑control via Alexa or Google Assistant (with some limitations). Sadly, the remote requires a line‑of‑sight to the base, and the display is mounted low — not easy to read when in tall pedestal mode. Smart home integration reportedly works inconsistently: app works fine, but voice support is limited — often just on/off commands.

Design & build vibes

The fan ships with all necessary pieces for quick assembly and includes an Allen key tucked into the base — handy! The build feels mostly plastic with a metal extension rod. It weighs around 4.2 kg, light and portable — my two kids could carry it between rooms ﹘ much simpler than lugging a portable AC. Controls and remote are thoughtfully styled and color‑matched to whichever shade you choose. The LED display, however, has a reflective surface and small icons, making it fiddly from a distance.

Efficiency & running costs

Despite its power, it sips energy — using only ~2 W on standby and costing less than 1p per hour even on high speeds. That makes it far cheaper to run than air conditioning, especially during a summer heatwave.

Verdict: Who's this fan for?

Buy it if you want whisper‑quiet cooling, flexible placement (desk or stand modes), zero‑light sleep mode, and smart scheduling.

Maybe skip it if you’re on a tight budget, want thermostat‑based cooling, or full Alexa/Google integration — this fan works, but voice features are basic.
