Power off... POWER UP!
If you've ever lost a controller for your games console, you probably immediately ordered another from amazon, right? Well this guy made do with what he had and turned his actual car into a controller for Mario Kart.
The car in question is a Chevy Volt, and the clever hacker is Adam Ringwood, ownwer of the Avid Hacker blog. Using a Raspberry Pi and laptop, he was able to hook up the car's electric signals and interpret that as data the laptop could understand to control the game. The steering wheel, accelerator, breaks, and ever indicators all work in the game itself.
Next we'd like to see the video of him playing the game while also driving along the road. Probably wouldn't be a long video...
