Ride-sharing app Lyft has committed to donating $1 million over the next fours years to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in their ongoing legal fight against the Trump administration. The news comes in the wake of Trump's controversial 'Muslim Ban' which is restricting the entry of people from certain countries, despite many of them holding dual nationalities and Green Cards.
Many tech firms have spoken out against the ban, but Lyft is the first to actually commit funds to actively fighting the president. Here in the UK many of us might not have heard of Lyft, but it is essentially like Uber... with the notable exception that their CEO isn't a a member of the Trump presidential policy forum, which might hint at why Uber has yet to specifically condemn the ban also.
Perhaps in the coming days other tech firms will also commit cash to legally challenge the president. Here's hoping...
