NEWS: Commence the Hyperloop races!

3... 2... 1... HYPERLOOP!

Taking place this weekend at SpaceX's headquarters in Los Angeles is the first Hyperloop 'Pod' Race, where contestants will race their own pod designs through a mile long tunnel, to test the Hyperloop principal.

Elon Musk's Hyperloop project, which will eventually whizz passengers through vacuum-sealed tunnels at up to 700mph, is becoming a reality. After this competition, which is open mostly to students, Hyperloop One is set to open in Las Vegas. After that, the first full-length loop will be built between LA and San Francisco, massively reducing travel time between to the two Californian cities.

The pod race will be run in a scale model of the final tunnel, which will still be pressurised to reduce air resistance. Whoever wins could go on to work with Elon and SpaceX is the design of the finished pods. Good luck to all.
