Although
banging on for many years about how little they were interested in
catching up to Google with plans to develop their own model of
autonomous vehicle, Apple has now confirmed it is working on
something self-driving.
Writing
to the US highways regulator, Apple’s Steve Kenner said that they
are “excited about the potential of automated systems in many
areas, including transportation”, and that Apple was “investing
heavily in the study of machine learning and automation.” Kenner
went on to describe the “significant societal benefits of automated
vehicles,” and how self-driving cars on the roads could potentially
save lives by reducing the number of human-error crashes that occur.
So...
what will they call it? iCar? CarBook? MacMotor? Maybe just 'Car'. And
people will loose their fucking minds over it. Sigh...
