Alexa arrives.
British tech fans have to wait no longer, as Amazon finally releases their smart home assistant in the UK - over a year after it went on sale in the US. The speaker connects to your home WiFi network and uses voice commands to search the internet, provide answers, data, and make purchases.
The Echo, and the smaller Echo Dot, use Amazon's smart assistant Alexa to complete the tasks, similar to Apple's Siri and Google's Now. Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder and CEO, said: “Millions across the US have already fallen in love with Alexa. And, predictably, she’s even more likeable with a British accent. We’re delighted to be bringing Echo and Alexa to the UK.” The Echo will set you back £149.
