REVIEW: Nerf Nitro DuelFury Demolition

Buddy up!

We recently reviewed the Nerf Nitro Long Shot Smash, the first Nitro blaster set we'd ever checked out. If you liked the look of Nerf's new car-shooting range, but think it would be far more fun to play against a friend, you're in luck. The Nerf Nitro DuelFury Demolition is a very similar set up, but comes as a double pack. Let's lock and load!

Make sure you check out our Nitro Long Shot Smash review, because the two DuelFury blasters are essentially the same. They look the same, are the same size, load and shoot cars in the same manner, and have a similar degree of performance. So...

So indeed. But don't look down your nose at this set, wondering why you've just paid more for what is basically the same as the Long Shot; instead celebrate the fact that you've got two of them, four of the new Nerf foam cars, two ramps, two 'flame rings' and two sets of smashable obstacles.

Yes, the Nerf Nitro DuelFury Demolition set is waaaaay more fun, purely because there is a lot more going on, and because it screams for you to play with a friend. After the single shooter that was the Long Shot, we discovered that playing Nerf Nitro with a buddy at the same time made for a far more enjoyable experience.

In a nutshell, you crank back the primer on the rear of the blasters (they're identical, despite the colour variance) shove one of the cars into the front, place the blaster down onto a flat surface (to release the firing lock), and shoot. Unlike normal Nerf blaster fights where the target is usually another human being, you shoot the cars toward ramps and objects and other ideally non-living things.

One note about the colours; the set includes one blaster in typically Nerf Elite blue and orange, and also one other blaster in a yellowy-green and orange. They're both the exact same on the inside, but its refreshing to get a Nerf gun that looks a bit different. And also a note on the included cars; they're different to the ones we got in the Long Shot set. This we were happy with, because although all Nitro cars seem to be compatible with all Nitro blasters, its nice to get something collectable.

So although the blasters themselves are essentially the same as the cheaper Long Shot, performing in the same manner, the Nerf Nitro DuelFury Demolition set actually offers a lot more value for money. We love the look of the guns, the inclusion of the hoops to aim for, and the mix of cars. Plus, Nerf Nitro is undeniably more fun when you're playing it with a mate. And, y'know, you could also aim at each other, if you wanted to.
