REVIEW: Urbanista San Francisco Earphones

In San Fran... cisco.

For your daily commute, or for just when you need to quietly watch a YouTube video, what kind of headphones do you reach for? If you're anything like us, you might not always opt for the big, ultra-performing, ultra-expensive head cans, and instead grab a small pair of earphones. If that's the case, we've found a pretty cool set in the Urbanista San Francisco.

Just as you would expect, there isn't a great deal to say about the Urbanista San Francisco earphones - nor should there be. These small, light, in-ear earbud style 'phones are rugged, functional, and produce great sounds. They come with that unique new style of earbud which is neither truly in-ear (so that it jams into your ear canal), nor are they traditional earbuds that feature open grills that hang from you lug hole. Instead they are designed very well to direct the 'tip' of the grill into the canal, without actually forcing it's way in.

This makes for a very comfortable set of headphones, and therefore ones that can be worn for long periods of time. Obviously they are wired in the conventional manner, so no need to pair them over Bluetooth or NFC - you just plug them. Like your gran knows how. Bless.

The Urbanista San Francisco range has been bolstered this summer with some bold new colours, of which were sent the the textured green versions. There are lots of other colours, including a pretty funky rainbow, so you should be able to find a pair you like.

In terms of performance they did very well, producing a level of bass which would far out strip that free pair of earphones you got with your phone or iPod. The design of the buds helps to keep environmental noises to a minimum, meaning there's no need to jack up the volume to hear your music, which means everything sounds crisp and clear.

And they're less than twenty quid, so come on - who can complain at that? Well designed, comfortable in, and great sound reproduction - these are a winner.
