Speed Up Your Apple Devices in 7 Simple Actions

Chances are if you are googling how to speed up your
Apple devices, you are already experiencing issues with performance, including lag when in use or battery life, or even both.

Over time, the different processes can take their toll on your device and your digital footprint will accumulate. But that doesn't mean any loss in performance is permanent, far from it. By routinely undertaking little actions and changes in how you use your Apple products, you can help you preserve or even boost performance and functionality.

Shut Down Background Apps

While Apple claims that shutting background apps does not affect system speed or battery life, any background programmes executing a process (as opposed to just sitting inactive) can potentially impair system speed and battery life. Give your iPad a speed boost by quitting background task-intensive apps while you're not using them, like reading email or monitoring your GPS location.

By double-tapping the iPad's Home button, you can determine which apps are currently running. New apps are little windows, and their icons are visible next to them. Slide your finger to the top of the screen to end the programme.

Give Safari A Boost

The number of system resources used by Safari on the iPad can be high. Clearing the cache clears your history and data, and you can limit the number of open tabs in Safari. To close Safari's open tabs, hit the "X" button at the top-left of each tab.

You can also give yourself an extra boost by turning off JavaScript in Safari. Toggle JavaScript in Safari's Advanced Settings, then click "Settings" > "Safari" > "Advanced" and uncheck "JavaScript." It eliminates elements like social sharing and commenting from websites, which speeds up the loading time.

Free Up Storage

To get the most out of your iPad or iPhone, you should remove some of the content and apps that you've stored on it. In the Settings app, choose the General button, select iPad Storage and see how much free space your device has.

When there is less than 1GB of free space, you should remove any undesired programmes, music, images, and videos as well as any documents that you don't want to keep on the iPad since once there is enough free space, you will be able to reuse the apps, music, photos, and videos as well as documents. You can also discover how to clear icloud storage to allow you to have a thorough clear out.

Disable notifications

An apps' attempts to engage its users can include being intrusive with alerts, including notifying users every time there is a new message, prompting a special offer, or providing information on the latest news. There's no downside to disabling notifications for most applications, and doing so can increase the overall speed.

You can view each app's application settings by navigating to Settings > Notifications, and in the right-hand pane, you'll see them listed. To quiet notifications, tap the app you want to alter and turn the Allow Notifications toggle off. If you prefer to adjust the notification settings instead, do so via the Settings tab instead.

Regularly Restart Your Device

Performing a weekly restart will make your iPad or your iPhone run faster. This erases the device's memory, resets any programmes that may have crashed, and clears the cache. Restart your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. When it happens, simultaneously release both buttons.

To restart your iPhone, press and hold the side button on the right side of your phone, then swipe right to power off your phone.

Disable Spotlight

Reducing the amount of indexing done by Apple's Spotlight search can help speed up your iPad. As part of the background indexing of your iPad's content, such as email and messages, iOS constantly updates the list of results, ensuring the best possible results when you search for something.

To find out what apps are indexing your iPhone, choose Settings > General > Siri & Search. If you use the application to search email and messages, you might wish to exclude Angry Birds, but not necessarily.

Check for Updates

Updating the iOS software on an iPhone can make it run more quickly. If your iPhone is getting slow, update the software to increase performance. In the event of an iOS upgrade, many users regularly experience sluggish performance on their current version. Updating your phone actually does two things: it makes your iPhone faster and cooler (literally), but it also improves the security inherent in the device.
