Possibly the most Japanese thing you can do is make a robot to fulfil a task typically carried out by a human. That is why the Japanese Volleyball team are probably the most Japanese sporting team ever, as they've hired a bunch of robots to help them train. Behold this clip, as reported on by New Scientist:
Those creepy hands are actually part of one single robot, programmed to mimic the moves of the team's opposition. Quickly moving along rails, the hands and torsos move to block the ball with frightening efficiency. In the video it is being tested by the Japanese Female Volleyball team who all seemed to approve. But... imagine if the net wasn't there and robot moved in to give you a six-handed cuddle. Chilling.
