NEWS: LEGO to release 3000+ piece Star Wars Sandcrawler set

These ARE the droids you're looking for.

We've been a bit heavy on the old Star Wars LEGO news recently, but this is one we just couldn't ignore. To celebrate 15 years of creating Star Wars sets (which probably saved the entire company and skyrocketed it to being the second biggest toy maker in the world) LEGO have announced that they are to release a new version of the Jawa Sandcrawler,  this time with almost 3300 pieces.

The mammoth set looks gorgeous and the plated design is certainly easier on the eye than the previous brick-built Sandcrawler set. The new version is also packed with features including two working cranes, opening ramps and side panels, a speeder bike for the wee Jawas and steerable tank tracks.

In terms of minifigures, the £249 ($300) set doesn't disappoint. You'll get Luke Skywalker and his uncle Owen Lars, R2D2 and C3PO, four Jawas (which we're sure will be highly coveted) and a tonne of other droids. Basically imagine the scene from A New Hope and you get the picture.

Its not yet known if this will be a limited edition set, available only for a short time, or just on general release.  Regardless of availability this is sure to be a desirable addition to any collector's shelves.
