If you thought selfies were just for fun, think again - they now have a very serious business use. HSBC is now allowing their business customers to open new accounts with a selfie, which the bank's computers will then run through facial recognition software to make sure you are who you say you are.
HSBC are being praised for taking such actions, because as silly as it sounds, banks and other high-security organisations are increasingly moving away from password verification systems in favour of the likes of bio-metrics and facial scanners. So, if you bank with HSBC, you could soon be asked snap a selfie to get into your account.
