In this year, the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek TV series, toy maker Mattel has teamed up with CBS to produce a special set of Barbies. Look, it's Uhura, Kirk, and Spock in oddly realistic Barbie format, complete with authentic accessories and fairly accurate approximations of the actors' faces.
The Federation uniforms look pretty awesome, as do the general proportions of the figures themselves. Trekkies will love the attention to detail (that Tricorder looks great), while fans of geek chic in general might jump at the Spock figure, given the death of actor Leonard Nimoy last year.
The set of three is just now available to pre-order, with the dolls shipping from mid-July. Expect to pay around $35 each.
