REVIEW: Fuze Cycle Lights

Let there be light.

With the nights drawing in we spare a thought for our dear cyclist friends contending with freezing temperatures and dangerous roads. As visibility is the key factor to surviving the evening rush hour we decided to check out some illuminating cycle gadgets to keep pedal-pounders safe. We found them in the Fuze cycle light range.

REVIEW: Lifeproof iPhone and iPad Cases

Life saver.

After last month's smartphone case feature, in which we tested the latest ways to keep a Samsung Galaxy S3 safe, we had a few calls to do a similar post for Apple products. And so, ever ready to answer the call of our dear readers, we scoured the net for some quality iPhone case action. We're happy to report that we found several from just one company; Lifeproof.

And so, armed with iPhone 5 and iPad, we set about testing a few of Lifeproof's cases during the course of our exciting and dangerous lives. At one dramatic point there was a really big puddle...

REVIEW: Nerf Jolt

Usain Jolt

Still high off of the back of our recent Nerf Rapidstrike CS-18 review, we were sent a pocket-sized pressie from the gadget guys and gals at RED5. We weren't expecting much from the contents of the small package, and once opened the Nerf Jolt looked a little comical next to it's big brothers such as the Retaliator and the Vortex Diatron. Boy, were we wrong.

Just as you should never judge a book by the cover, never judge a Nerf blaster by the size. At just a few inches across the Jolt is the smallest Nerf gun ever made and  cashes in with the smallest ever price. But what a wallop it packs!

REVIEW: Panasonic Smart Viera TV

Very smart.

If Apple's recent announcement of the new iPhones left you feeling disappointed, you're not alone. Apart from what has now become a predictably dull product introduction from the one-time innovators,  we were also sad to see that there was no Apple TV update or similar living room gadget announced.

FEATURE: Home surveillance

What with all this fancy stuff we get sent Test Pit Towers is chock-a-block with expensive gadgets. Obviously we want to keep it all safe, but how do we mange that alongside our jet-setting journalist lifestyles (one of us went to Scotland last week. Pretty impressive.)?

Keeping an eye on your house while you're away doesn't just mean asking the neighbours to water the plants. These days there is a whole host of nifty tech to keep your own eyes on your stuff. We tested out three of the best.

REVIEW: Karcher Window Vac

It sucks. In a really good way.

If you are a bit odd, (for the sake of argument we shall assume that you are) and have in the past looked at a window and uttered the phrase "that window needs a good vacuuming", you're in luck.

That is because a gadget has finally been invented to satisfy the wants of the really anal amongst us, for whom 'fairly clean' is just never enough. Further more the piece of tech in question comes in a hand-held form and with a variety of accessories; so right up our alley then. It's the Karcher Window Vac.

FEATURE: Desktop Hot

Although our lives are increasingly mobile these days, most of us still need a desk either at home or in the office. Certainly we're fans of our desks (or Crap Attractors as we call them) which got us thinking... what new gadgets are out there for the discerning sitter-down?

And so we searched high and low for desktop gadgets and tech that would enhance any flat slab of wood. Take a seat...

REVIEW: LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian Speeder #75022

September the fourth be with you.

Our two favourite things that we all remember from our childhoods are building things out of LEGO and pretending to be Luke Skywalker. So, now that we are adults, we get very giddy when these two things return and combine. And so it was with excited fingers that we tore open the box of the latest LEGO Star Wars set.

This time we are treated to something not from the six blockbusting films but from the (in our humble opinion) much overlooked TV series The Clone Wars. The Mandalorian Speeder (#75022) features a vehicle and three minifigures, one of which we're eager to get our hands on.

REVIEW: Little Helper FunPod

A little help, a lot of fun.

You may be surprised to learn this, but not everything we review needs to have a USB port. Here at The Test Pit we are firm fans of innovative thinking and problem solving, particularly when it comes to our kids. Those of us with wee bairns will know of the difficulty in balancing getting them involved with keeping them safe, particularly in the kitchen. How can you involve a toddler in making the dinner when the work surfaces are so high and child booster steps can be precarious at the best of times? Fortunately childhood innovation experts Little Helper have the answer in the form of the FunPod.
