REVIEW: HoMedics iheal

There was once a time when if you injured yourself - be it by accident or by marauding band of Scottish warriors - you got yourself to the doctor (both normal or witch) and he or she treated you with a pill. Or a leech. Those days are gone it seems, as medicine is now handled by gadgetry and technology – namely the HoMedics iheal.

This little bundle of medicinal magic sends pulsing magnetic energy waves deep into the body’s tissue and bone using low power electromagnetic fields. Apparently, this actively reduces the healing time of soft tissue injuries and speeds up recovery. Sounds pretty amazing and certainly preferable to having a leech bleeding you dry.

REVIEW: Creative Sound Blaster Axx SBX20

Apparently Bluetooth is named after some Finnish king who Nokia really liked, for some reason or other. We don’t know whether or not he actually had blue teeth, but what we do know is that Bluetooth speakers are brilliant – especially the Sound Blaster Axx SBX20.

A great shiny obelisk of black wrapped tech, the Sound Blaster is an extremely attractive looking Bluetooth speaker, shaped like an alien hexagon of the kind that apes sat around in the opening scenes of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Complete with smooth black panel with touch-sensitive controls on top, the Sound Blaster looks incredible in the corner of your room, on your desk, or even as a feature in your bathroom (if you’re a bit weird).

REVIEW: Breffo Mobile Accessories

So you're on the train and wanting to watch a film on your tablet. Its some time after midnight, you've had a busy day in meetings about numbers and pie charts, and all you want to do is relax, get home as quickly as possible and watch Finding Nemo. But damn, you can't get comfortable. Unlike a laptop, a tablet screen needs constant support and your hands are far too tired to hold anything long enough and still enough for your exhausted brain to make sense of animated wise-cracking fish.

REVIEW: Bose SoundLink Air Wireless Speaker

Since scientists have been working closely with magicians it is now possible to keep your entire life inside your phone or tablet – thanks to magic. We assume it's magic; either that or technology so awesomely complicated as to make cave men's heads explode. Thing is though, with all that 'stuff' in a teeny tiny handset it can be tricky to get it all out. That's where the Bose SoundLink Air Wireless Speaker comes in.

REVIEW: Musical Fidelity EB-50 In-Ear Headphones

Do you remember your first Walkman? Those headphones with the thin metal strap and thick black cushioned speakers that came with it? Ah, we thought we were the bending part of a bee's leg, didn't we, listening to crackly tapes of Michael Jackson and the Batman soundtrack (Just us?). Well since those days the headphone industry has come on leaps and bounds, but it isn't Japan we look to any longer, but rather here in jolly old Blighty.

REVIEW: Motorola RAZR i

Remember the Motorola RAZR, the super thin flip phone from the mid noughties? We do, and quite fondly as well. In fact a few of us Test Pitters had that particular model, back in the days when the best you could hope for in a phone was that it made calls, sent texts and took tiny lo-res photos of your dog sleeping. These days our mobiles do a wee bit more, so it was with excited anticipation that we tore open the box of the new Motorola RAZR i.

REVIEW: DatAshur Secure USB Flashdrive

So you’re a spy… and you’ve just copied over a top secret government document onto you flash drive. It’s the document that proves that the prime minister is actually a lizard and the Queen is Hitler’s granddaughter. It’s very important that the file doesn’t get into enemy hands – if it did society as we know it would surely crumble.

REVIEW: IRISNotes Executive 2

So you’re in a meeting or a lecture or just had a really good idea and made some notes. You look back at what you’ve scribbled on your notepad, in handwriting that would cause your primary school teacher shudder, quit their job and declare themselves a failure, and you think… crap, I really should type this mess up. So you set to the long and laborious task of typing up your notes, attempting to decipher your hastily scribbled lines and curls, hoping that you haven’t wasted yet another meeting/lecture/really good idea.

REVIEW: Kobo Touch

Not a new product but one that we at The Test Pit have gotten fully to grips with over the past three months. With an increasing number of eReader options available to consumers, and after fiddling with quite a few different makes and models, we have to admit that the Kobo Touch is our fave by a long shot.

REVIEW: iRobot Roomba 700 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

And so it begins...

An appropriate gadget to review for our first ever post, as this clever bit of tech is definitely a sign that THE FUTURE IS ALREADY HERE!

It’s about time as well. Face it, we’ve been promised a lot by sci-fi films over the years. According to 2001: A Space Odyssey we should already be in space, zooming through psychedelic tunnels and chatting to space babies.
